I have the problem that the the transfer between two platforms doesn't start, although both are in orbit of the same planet and the docking view of both shows the opposite platform as docked

Hey, your docking belts arent aligned.
Your docking belts need to be in the same location relative to the docking port to connect. This is so they know which belt to connect to.
imagine it like placing your docking ports side by side. If it looks like they should connect, they will.
