Accidently discovered that using a deconstruction planner to clean up the debris left after using explosives also 'cleans up' walls, providing effectively free digging by repeatedly using the deconstruction planner on the existing wall. I have to assume this is unintended behavior.

Yes sort of. As is, if you highlight the walls with the deconstruction planner then construction robots, if you have them, will dig out the exposed walls. Is this intended behavior ?

No it's not, but unhappily theres currently no way to fix it. Anyway thanks for the report
