Yeah exactly, it's meant to avoid annoyances when crafting higher quality steel and tungsten carbide. Same reasoning for the calcite purification loop :-)
I think a good use for those recipies is to put in a built in 10% quality into them (if that is possible). easy then to know what it is for and incentivizes using it.
