⚠️ SearchlightAssault ⚠️

Adds a game map and searchlights which sweep for foes at great range, alerting you while directing adjacent turrets to snipe spotted foes. Designed to dovetail with the early-mid game, searchlights provide: - Circuit network interfaces for search & detection I/O - Incentive to automate lamp & combinator production in the early game - New tactics to assault biter bases without leap-frogging turrets!

b 📝 Non Recoverable Error when blueprinting

I was doing some rather hasty blueprinting with a small circuis settup on a landfill island while I got this

The mod ⚠️ SearchlightAssault ⚠️ (2.3.17) caused a non-recoverable error.
Please report this error to the mod author.

Error while running event SearchlightAssault::on_player_setup_blueprint (ID 83)

I have quite a few mods. Im not sure I can reproduce this anyways

Thanks for reporting this.

I haven't been able to reproduce it either, but I'm keeping a note to prevent this in the future, someday.

Following up, I've started having the exact same error over one hundred and forty hours into a modded multiplayer save I'm running for myself and a few other people, no idea why it's just started and it doesn't happen every time, especially since not one of us has ever placed or even crafted a Searchlight.

...maybe it's an interaction with the Lighthouse Radar mod causing it? I did just recently add that mod, last night, in a failed attempt to update the Cargo Ships mod (it had a load-up error involving the cargo ship's bounding box or something, so I had to revert).

I'll try disabling Lighthouse Radar and see if it still has the same error.

...nevermind, cannot disable Lighthouse Radar because the mod author made it a forced dependency for Depths of Nauvis on all versions, even though I'm using a version from before it was added as said dependency.

Fun, time to see if I can go into the files and remove said dependency, unless someone else wants to check?

@OmegaEntertainment Thanks for the tip! I'll try messing around with the Lighthouse Radar mod and see if I can reproduce it.

In the meanwhile, if you want to consider posting your save file, that could help me if I can't reproduce it by myself.

Thanks! What game version is this save from?

I personally have never used the Lighthouse Radar Mod or Depths of Nauvis.
I think its unlikely that its the cause if you are having the exact same error as me.

Thanks! What game version is this save from?

Latest stable version on Steam, friend.

I personally have never used the Lighthouse Radar Mod or Depths of Nauvis.
I think its unlikely that its the cause if you are having the exact same error as me.

Fair, it was just my first thought since there weren't any Searchlight Assault updates in the past couple months and it was one of the mods I'd just added before the error started happening.

Any luck so far, friend?

No, sorry

I'm going to keep working on it, but if I can't get to the root cause soon, maybe I'll just try to implement a work around and hopefully it can fix the problem without me understanding what's actually going wrong.

Understandable, sorry if my information hasn't been the most helpful

Did you manage to download the save, or do I need to fix the link?

The save was fine, but I'm seeing an old problem where the game engine throws an error about the sprite boundaries.

I've seen this before with some other mods when the mod version was updated out of sync with changes in the game version, so it's not your fault.

Alright, went ahead and published the work around I was working on.

At the very least, you should have to actually be blueprinting a searchlight or a turret it is boosting for the crash to occur (hopefully).

I'll keep my investigation open, but this will have to go on the backburner unless I hear more people reporting crashes since I'm running out of time for the weekend.

Good to hear, I'll update and see if that fixes the issue I'm having, thanks for the help and I'll let you know if it happens again.

I was having the same fatal error regarding the blueprint with a Krastorio-focused mod set, but it seems to have cleared up now with the patch, I can blueprint the spotlight too, in sandbox mode at least. Will try playing some with it tomorrow and will write back if it has any issues again.
