Highlight the spot of a hovered searchlight in a different color.
If players hover the mouse over turrets it shows radius, some of them draw it in a different color (check repair turrets mod - possible it is even a roboport inside).
So, it is possible to draw a custom circles on hover over turrets/entities. Could you highlight the current walking spot with a different color? it will help with the searchlight configuration via constant combinators if you have a lot of them along the wall

EDIT: to be sure I meant not to the show of the range of the turret, but the current spot with the lantern

Indeed, the repair turret seems to be using the roboport prototype.

My mod has to use the turret prototype for many reasons, so there's a few things I can't get around (like the green overlay of the turret's range, which draws alongside the current visualization and makes it hard to tell it's even there)

But I can and will work on making the active range controlled by combinator signals / the upcoming internal settings feature more readable.
It might have to happen after I finish working on the next major update, though.

Maybe I'll just trace it with an outline, like this? I'm open to suggestion.

if we have multiple Searchlight turrets with crossing areas - it does not help.
I would prefer to show searchlight spot (the circle with an animated pattern in the rounded sector) – in a green color if we hover over the turret.

I've just released version 2.0.0, which highlights the spotlight for searchlights being moused over, among many other features

The new version should start to appear in the mod portal shortly.

looks good, but now (on the latest mod version) it often stucks — at first it shows the light spot and green spot on hovering.
But after a while he stops moving this spot — the light spot is hidden, the green spot is visible on hovering, but it stopped on random position.
(without circuit connections)
In that moment the searchlight building has a green color.

Is it a new feature?
I know yellow - for "in searching", and red for the "spotted" state.

Yes, there's a new feature where searchlights go into "Safe mode" and stop looking for foes when none are nearby, which helps the game run faster
