Research Productivity

This is a rebalanced version of the "Laboratory Productivity" mod by Rhaane who created most of the graphics, I just changed some code. View the description on the mod portal or the changelog for more details.

This is a rebalanced version of the Laboratory Productivity mod by Rhaane. All graphic design was done by them, with the exception of the DALL-E generated thumbnail, I just changed some numbers. Rhaane allowed me to rework their mod and publish my rebalanced version. Both the original and this version use the MIT license.

A full overview of changes compared to the original version:

  • The first three levels now cost 250/500/1000 research units, then infinite research starts with 2500/5000/7500 etc. An optional setting makes the cost exponential so it costs 2000/4000/8000 etc.
  • The higher tier science packs (productivity/utility) are not required before the 3rd level.
  • To compensate for the lower number of levels before infinite research, the buff per level was increased to +10%.
  • Lab research speed is no longer a prerequisite for Lab productivity. Instead, the required research packages must now be unlocked.

I tried to make it similar to mining productivity research while still keeping it balanced. Both mining productivity and this mod allow you to get more research progress from the resources available to you. The advantage of this research productivity is that it allows smaller builds because fewer processing machines are needed to turn resources into science packs. The advantage of the mining productivity research is that its bonus ores and oil can be used for other things like assembling machines, beacons, modules, or combat equipment, while research productivity only helps with resources that are allocated to creating science packs.

This mod was tested with Expanded Rocket Payloads Continued by Telkine2018 and also works with their data processor, I see no reason why it shouldn't work with any other custom labs.
