Some work on further optimization is underway, but they are more about algorithms than the number of entities. So it doesn't look like a solution to your situation

On the current saves I have 50-60 ups (one of them is a K2 deathworld marathon, where the base is completely surrounded by nests)
If you can link your save, I think I can take into account the situation in the new versions.

I'm sure that something will be able to come up with, but a new version is planned in about 1-2 weeks

upd: Also, the fixed version already has overpopulation control (max: 60 nests per chunck), so it would be doubly interesting to find out what's going on there.

According to the test results, UPS is very strongly influenced by worms. When they were removed, the "unit time usage" dropped from 18k to 3.5k, of which 2.5k are player units.

It looks like it's time to rebalance the worms. There will be few of them, but each of them will be dangerous.

In the chunk, without layering, only 16 nests are placed.
However, in the prepared version, the pattern of the arrangement of nests generated by the hive has already been changed. This will have no effect on the existing nests, but the new layers will have less.

By the way, about your save. Sometimes there will be small periodic lags. They are insignificant compared to what they were.
