Improves the enemies tactics by using potential fields (pheromones) allowing probing of defenses, retreats, reinforcements, counterattacking, breaching, raids, rallying death cry, and player hunting. Uses blockable biter projectiles. Adds new Enemies which can be disabled in mod settings. Difficulty setting in mod options menu.

Is there a post or readme that describes the new mechanics?

I'm looking for a medium level of detail. For example:
- Do aliens evolve in response to the weapons you use? In a recent game, I used a lot of poison gas in a recent game and ended up facing a lot of poison biters.
- What factors cause attacks now? I think I'm seeing attacks come from nests way outside the pollution cloud.

Yes

What factors cause attacks now? I think I'm seeing attacks come from nests way outside the pollution cloud.

That is mostly likely from the raiding AI setting.

At some point I will do a write up, but it hasn't been a priority.
