g Acid Biters Attacking Cause Unplayable FPS/UPS drop in Multiplayer

Rampant 1.0.4
Save: https://mega.nz/file/55xR1CqZ#lsYAmolUOPTIVUbwqRYbZzMnVBwHS0x5thuoll2Z180

I host the server on my computer and my friend connects to me.

When Acid Biters first attacked my friend's FPS severely dropped (down to 5-10). When he complained of this I did note that the server FPS/UPS was dropping to 50-55.

When we load the save in single player neither of us have any drops.

Also I will add that when we played 0.18 fact/ramp the acid biters didn't cause this.

Thanks for the save, I will add it to the todo list.

Hi Veden,

We had this issue happen again in tonight's session and there were no Acid Biters attacking. So it's not related to the Acid Biter Faction.

We are now running a script which kills the biters and spitters on the map every 10 minutes and it seems to have corrected the problem. My guess is that our map is so big now that the amount of biters on it is slowing things down.

My advanced flamethrowers killed about 300 biters in 1..2 seconds yesterday. It was such a slow-motion in single player with 3-4 FPS. What an impressive picture it was! Suppose vanilla can make something like this only with nuclear bomb with 600%+ nests density under heavy pollution cloud. But I can't imagine how it should work in multiplayer without one big lag. Probably factorio engine isn't ready for such things. I heard many game features are not ready for upscaling, for example AAI Vehicles mod. :-(

Hi Veden,

We determined what was going on and that it has nothing to do with Rampant. Sorry for this one.

(In multiplayer if a client computer is slower than the server and can't run at the same UPS then the client throttles FPS to try and catch up in UPS. Since our base is so big now this was happening. In our last playthrough the server host computer was slower than the client so we didn't have this issue.)
