Rampant

by Veden

Improves the enemies tactics by using potential fields (pheromones) allowing probing of defenses, retreats, reinforcements, counterattacking, breaching, raids, rallying death cry, and player hunting. Uses blockable biter projectiles. Adds new Enemies which can be disabled in mod settings. Difficulty setting in mod options menu.

g Is there a toggle for biters rapid expanding into your front line?

Excellent mod, but this is one thing that's a bit over the top for my tastes. It causes a massive mid-game power spike where they rapid expand so close to you that it triggers nonstop attacks, overwhelming your defenses by attrition. In the game I'm playing it feels like a sudden apocalyptic event that happens about 11 hours in. Sure, I could blame myself for not getting farther in my military techs, but the difficulty surge caused by this behavior doesn't feel gradual or natural... like 10 hours of normal attack waves and then suddenly BAM unstoppable doomsday swarm with spawners and worms right outside your walls. Admittedly it's kinda cool flavor-wise though.

I'd like to disable this behavior if possible, but don't see a tickbox descriptive of it.

Should be a mod setting in the latest.

Awesome addition, thank you!

This might be a stupid question... but which setting is it? I've been looking around for a while now and I can't seem to find it :)

SiegeAI switch - in map settings, so can be changed any time.

Thank you very much!

:D this is what I was looking for... I like the idea but they are a bit insane with it... spent the last hour defending 1 wall :D

spent the last hour defending 1 wall :D

Defending one wall from new seeding spawners near it?
Unfortunately for me it doesn't work anymore (see another thread) - biters only make restless suicide attacks from different nests, not trying to build anything far or close to my base. I tried previous Rampant version (rolled back only purple cloud related changes) - still not working.

Yes they constantly expand and put new bases right next to my walls 'same frame" and if I do not manually go clear them they will eventually overrun my defenses.

2 things i've noticed. if you started a game with a huge starting area without enemies they will not expand into that area.
If you keep beating their bases back far enough from your cloud they mostly leave you alone.
