Progressive Running 2.0

by Maoman

Start off running slow then rapidly accelerate to full speed while the key is held; useful when your run speed is very high and you want to move precisely

b [Fixed] Cannot change behaviour + no settings in menu + removing the mod bricks the player's speed + still applies with enabled exoskeletons

  • Alt + w doesn't do anything on my computer. I couldn't find any key customization in the settings.
  • There is no customization settings in the mod settings menu (not a bug per se, but it would be nice to be able to change the ramp-up period, as a full second is too much IMO).
  • Removing the mod while your character isn't moving means that your character will permanently be stuck with a slowed-down speed. If you want to "properly" uninstall the mod, you need to make sure your character is running at full speed, save while running, and then uninstall the mod.
  • If the exoskeletton is disabled (in-game), the ramping up still applies, which means your character gets extremely slow and sluggish.

Overall a good idea, but unusable as of now in my opinion.

Thanks for the mod!

The default keybind in the current version appears to be F1, which does not work as it conflicts with the inventory. In the controls settings (in English) it is named "Progr. running toggle". I rebound it to a random unused key (numpad 7, fwiw) and it did work. I agree that 1s feels a little sluggish. I'd prefer some player settings to change both the initial speed and the ramp time.

I'm fairly new to modding but Factorio's the easiest damn game to mod that I've ever seen and I'm learning rapidly so I'll see if I can figure out adding some customizable settings for y'all. All I did was get the old mod working with the new version exactly as it was, I haven't made any real changes of my own to the mod yet.

Keep the mod installed but disabled if you like and that way you'll see when it updates.

Removing the mod while your character isn't moving means that your character will permanently be stuck with a slowed-down speed. If you want to "properly" uninstall the mod, you need to make sure your character is running at full speed, save while running, and then uninstall the mod.

Added instructions from the original developer for removing the mod safely. TLDR just be in + fast mode when its removed.

Hello, I have updated the mod properly now, instead of just a quick and dirty "make it work" with space age.

It still breaks if you uninstall it incorrectly but there are now instructions in the description for how to avoid that. The other issues (slow acceleration, no settings, no customizeable hotkey) should all be fixed now. They are on my machine at least, so if you still have any issues please give me a detailed bug report if you don't mind. Tell me about your hardware and what steps you took leading up to the problem, what you expected to find/happen, and what you found/happened instead.

I also increased how frequently the mod "checks in" from every 15 ticks to every 10 ticks to improve responsiveness with no noticeable affect on performance on my mid-grade PC.
