Progressive Running (smooth acceleration) deprecated

Accelerate progressively when starting to run: useful when your max speed is high due to exoskeletons and concrete, and you want to precisely position your character.

May 2021 Update by OhChirpy:

After a long absence from modding I came back to find that this mod both got picked up by a new maintainer and served as an inspiration for a similar, but much more featured mod:

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/ProgressiveRunningRevived is the version working on 1.1.
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Kux-Running is another mod that does it all - cheat running, running based on zoom level, etc.

In the face of this, I decided to not update this here. Binbinhfr has been long gone and graciously agreed to let me comaintain this mod, but as I took a factorio brake and recently played very complex mods where being to fast is not your problem, I didn't get around to update it after 0.18.

Ever enjoyed the speed rush of a big fancy power armour stuffed to the brink with exoskeletons? But then realized that positioning your character in your base is cumbersome, as is switching them on and off depending on if you need to walk long distances or fine postioning? Then this mod is for you.

On top of being able to toggle the exoskeleton effect, it adds a mode where your character starts at a casual walking pace and then keeps ramping up to max speed as long as you keep moving. This also looks much more natural and less headache inducing than just starting to sprint from stand still.

How to properly remove this mod

If you just deactivate/delete this mod while in the accelerated or slow walking mode, your character will keep being slow until you reset the speed. To avoid this, switch to fast mode before you remove this mod, or disable it from the console with a remote call:

  • /c remote.call( "progrun", "off" )

To re-enable it again, call:

  • /c remote.call( "progrun", "on" )
