TLDR:
Nuclear science pack uses 2 uranium-238, yields 1 pack; atom forge adds 5 uranium-235; tech costs adjusted. Reduces uranium-235 dependency, eases nuclear power progression, aligns atom forge with Space Age buildings.
Nuclear Science Rebalanced
A rebalance add-on for Atan's Nuclear Science mod, adjusting the nuclear science pack recipe, atom forge recipe, and related technology costs for a smoother progression in Factorio 2.0 Space Age.
Changes
- Nuclear Science Pack Recipe: Now requires 2 uranium-238 (instead of 1 uranium-235) and yields 1 pack (down from 2).
- Atom Forge Recipe: Adds 5 uranium-235 to align with other Space Age "special" buildings (e.g., EM-plant, foundry, biochamber, cryogenic plant) that require planet-specific ingredients.
- Technology Costs:
- Nuclear Science Pack: 200 automation, logistic, and chemical science packs.
- Kovarex Enrichment Process: 1000 automation, logistic, chemical, production, and nuclear science packs.
Why This Rebalance?
- Uranium-235 Dependency: The original nuclear science pack required uranium-235, making Kovarex enrichment almost mandatory to produce it at scale, especially with higher science cost multipliers. Switching to uranium-238 reduces this bottleneck.
- Nuclear Power Progression: The uranium-235 requirement delayed nuclear power, pushing it later in the game. This rebalance allows earlier access to nuclear science, making nuclear power more viable sooner (without Kovarex enrichment).
- Atom Forge Alignment: Adding uranium-235 to the atom forge recipe aligns it with other Space Age buildings that use planet-specific resources. This also ensures uranium is still needed for mods that remove surface crafting restrictions, maintaining the need to source uranium.
Compatibility
- Requires Atan's Nuclear Science (version >= 0.3.0) and Factorio 2.0.
- Designed to integrate seamlessly with the base mod's mechanics.
