i have got used to using a separate command for this in my mods code, e.g. trace(), then i can switch the whole thing on and off centrally. without having to change every line.

Hah, actually, I solved this and a couple other issues in my local version a looong time ago, just waited for enough amount of changes to publish them. Or, for a bug report, lol. Uploaded the new version right now, try it out.
