Re resin: I'll do what you suggest with increasing resin per tree. Originally resin was only unlocked later alongside the wood-to-resin recipe (hence the makeshift circuit board recipe to bootstrap the first chem plants) so it wasn't properly balanced for early game. I think most of the early-game need for resin now is for wirings so I'll add a makeshift wiring recipe that doesn't need resin. There needs to be a way to get wirings without resin anyway otherwise Aquilo will be impossible later.
Re red science unlock: The production challenge was intended to just unlock naturally as you set up a basic starter base, not something that needs specific attention, since you need mechanisms to make everything else anyway. I'll try to playtest it with the resin changes above, since that might make assemblers cheaper enough that the challenge is easier. If it's still annoying with the resin changes then I'll reduce the challenge number like you suggest.
