g Early experience feels very rough and forced

The early experience feels very rough and forced, I think due to particularly two things.

  1. The automation science pack unlock feels very forced and unnatural. It felt like I was forced to build a production line I had no use for. I had to build it strictly to unlock the pack and then I disassembled it because the machines were too precious to be left unused.
  2. Resin is needed in large amounts and is too hard to get in the start. The deforestations felt extreme. I had several chests of wood and seeds lying around due to the need for resin. I couldn't use wood for any of the recipes except poles, because they all mostly needed also resin which was too precious for me to use in those recipes.

I am not sure if this is the intended experience, or if it is just due to the fact that the mod is early in development. If it the latter, I would suggest to smoothen the experience

  1. By reducing the mechanism production goal maybe to 12 per minute. Making such production line seems to make much more sense. Or if you want to avoid that goal being fulfilled by user handcrafting, then maybe 18 per minute to force at least little automated production.
  2. Maybe increase resin yield from trees from 1 to 3? I feel like that would still force quite a bit of collection of resin, but nothing as extreme.

omg i agree with the resin yield, im usually a fan of deforestation but DAMN have i made a hole into the forest

Re resin: I'll do what you suggest with increasing resin per tree. Originally resin was only unlocked later alongside the wood-to-resin recipe (hence the makeshift circuit board recipe to bootstrap the first chem plants) so it wasn't properly balanced for early game. I think most of the early-game need for resin now is for wirings so I'll add a makeshift wiring recipe that doesn't need resin. There needs to be a way to get wirings without resin anyway otherwise Aquilo will be impossible later.

Re red science unlock: The production challenge was intended to just unlock naturally as you set up a basic starter base, not something that needs specific attention, since you need mechanisms to make everything else anyway. I'll try to playtest it with the resin changes above, since that might make assemblers cheaper enough that the challenge is easier. If it's still annoying with the resin changes then I'll reduce the challenge number like you suggest.

Thanks! Loving the changes. Seems like a lot of pain points I had were fixed even if I did not mention them. Specifically the increased hand crank generator capacity and iron sticks now are intermediate. I am sure the very early game will now be much more approachable.

I am wondering if the makeshift recipes are not too OP now :D Keep up the good work!
