There is no other remotes, the research unlocks alternate recipe to initial vanilla remote, the type itself controls spider-vehicle entities as themselves, so I don't think there is point in adding own remote, since it will have the same functions.
As for Crabotron and Pentatron, Crabotron is supposed to have less utility, since it is more military focused, hence it has less legs that makes traversing not that easier than Pentatron, it's not about progression in their case
