Till just a few days ago I didn't know about this mod trying to do similar things via a different mechanism: in-game alerts.

I pinged the mod author to ask some questions about it, and he as a result took the initiative to update the mod for 2.0.
Just thought I'd post this for reference. Both approaches are of course valid and have various upsides and downsides.
