i (Resolved) Place ghosts of foundations instead of the entities themselves

I would like to suggest placing ghosts of foundations, and let the bots do their laying.

I would also like it so that if a foundation is selected that is not in the inventory or logistics network, it does not interfere with the placement of the object. Now if I select something that I do not have, the object simply does not install - it immediately disappears.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, I am thinking about it. It would require a significant change but maybe it is better.

For the second, that is currently the intended behavior. If you wish to place entities without automatic tile placement, right click the button to Disable.
The mod needs some way to know when you want automated tile placement and when not.

Is my understanding of the suggested changes correct?
If a tile is selected in the Foundations button, place ghosts not tiles. (I could make this an option.)
If the tiles do not exist in the player inventory or logistics system, do nothing and do not interfere with placing entities.

Yes, that's right, I think it would be more correct. Maybe it would also make sense to track whether construction drones are available (in the sense of whether the technology is already open or not). Until the technology is open, you can use the current behavior, but without interfering with the construction of objects if there are no tiles in the inventory.

And of course, it would be good if all this could be configured and switched "on the fly" through the toolbar and/or hotkeys. The toolbar is a must, personally I don't have enough keys on my keyboard for all the mods :)))))

Accounting for different play styles is the toughest part of modding. :)

The irony here is you are asking for much of what I wrote this mod not to do.
The major goal was to not add load and delay when placing hundreds or thousands of tiles.

(Edit: Maybe your suggestion for ghost placement was not intended for the selection tools?)

You are correct, it would be more correct to place ghosts, if one was wanting to use the logistics system to place tiles.
Much of what I consider the usefulness of this mod, is that it avoids using the logistics system. Much better tools are available than this mod for logistics use, have you tried the Floor Placer mod?

I'm afraid I didn't understand what you mean by selection tools in this context?

As for the "Floor Placer" mod, I didn't even know about it -- I'll definitely check it out, thanks :)

I looked at the description of this mod that you mentioned, it's not exactly the same as what yours does. Yours puts tiles under the installed buildings, and then just in the allocated area. But maybe this is also not bad, with its help you can draw paths, for example.

This Mod's home page has a two demo video links, the second link shows the use of 3 of the 4 selection tools.

The tool it does not demonstrate is the tool that removes tiles from underneath the entities.

Oh, thanks I'll see :))))
"Reading instructions is for losers" :)))))))))))))

Hmm... the description of the selection tools was right before my eyes :)))

Well, if the concept of using drones that I proposed contradicts your vision, at least I want the choice of a material that is not in the inventory not to interfere with the construction. Now the buildings disappear as if I were building next to the biters' base and it's annoying :)
