Fluid Must Flow - Upgraded Ducts

Adds Fast, Express and Turbo tiers to the Fluid Must Flow duct intake, duct exhaust and non-return duct, each doubling the throughput of the last, unlocked through the Space Age planets.

Fluid Must Flow - Upgraded Ducts

An add-on for Fluid Must Flow (by raiguard) that adds three upgrade tiers to the duct intake, the duct exhaust and the non-return duct. Each tier doubles the throughput of the one below it, and each is gated behind a different Space Age planet.

Tiers

The non-return duct connects only to ducts, so nothing throttles it but its own rating. However, the intake and exhaust each have six normal-pipe connections, and every segment-to-fluidbox connection in Factorio 2.0 is hard-limited to 6,000 fluid/s, so those two can never deliver more than 36,000 fluid/s however fast the pump is rated. Measured with six creative pipes, the real figure I measured flattens out around 25,200. The tiers are built around that. If anyone else knows better, please let me know.

The non-return duct starts a tier ahead as a result. A single duct network can be fed by several intakes at once, so its total flow is a multiple of the endpoint ceiling rather than being bounded by it, and a non-return duct in that network has to carry the combined load. This might need to be adjusted, depending on feedback.

Tier Intake / exhaust Non-return duct Made on Made in
Standard (Fluid Must Flow) 7,200 fluid/s 7,200 fluid/s Nauvis Assembling machine
Fast (red) 14,400 fluid/s 28,800 fluid/s Vulcanus Foundry
Express (blue) 25,200 fluid/s 57,600 fluid/s Fulgora Electromagnetic plant
Turbo (green) 36,000 fluid/s 115,200 fluid/s Aquilo Cryogenic plant

Powered pumps draw 271 / 376 / 463 kW against the standard 181 kW. The non-return duct needs no power at any tier, mirroring Fluid Must Flow.

Each tier is built from the one below it, so upgrading a network is a matter of feeding the previous tier back into the recipe. All four tiers share a fast-replace group and are chained with next_upgrade, so the upgrade planner walks the whole ladder.

Credits

This mod is an add-on. The duct sprites it ships are recolours of the artwork from Fluid Must Flow, and none of it would exist without that mod. Full credit to its authors:

  • Krastor - Original artist, whose duct sprites these recolours are derived from.
  • Snouz - Updated the sprites with improved lighting.
  • raiguard - Current maintainer of Fluid Must Flow.
  • Linver - Original maintainer.
  • iicyan - Wrote the original code for the mod.

Special apologies go to the sprite artists. I hope you can forgive what I did to your beautiful work.
