g Mod troubleshooting for RET

Is this compatible with SE/CMO? - if you do how do you handle the structure_align_to_animation_index?

Is your screenshot from your mod? - I'm curious how you handle the ground_picture_set.

I'm not sure what CMO is but I've handled a Space Exploration incompatibility in the past. I do as little with graphics as possible - the train animations are all copied directly from the vanilla locomotive. The new charging animation in the battery charger is just copied from the accumulator charging animation (finally got it working for 2.1).

Any pictures I've used were from gameplay while I was testing.

CMO is combat mechanic overhaul.

Ah no worries, thanks for the response!

The mod I have "assembled" is now in working order.

No worries. How's the performance of your mod at the moment? I've been thinking about doing a version (or adding to this one) of electric traction that relies directly on the power grid, but I haven't researched the modding documentation yet to figure out if the way I'd want to do it is possible, or performant for more than a handful of trains.

The performance has been "fine" as far as I can tell. We're at 200 downloads as of now and the only things that have been brought up are compatability questions.

The next steps for myself are to now resurrect the Diesel Trains mod (already finished the baseline stability testing) and then create a steam trains mod, that uses coal/wood loaded into a train in combination with water to power trains earlier in the game - for players who might want trains from the get go. These are then going to be rolled into a Progressive Trains mod as dependencies and it should be a nice package for players who remember some of the older locomotive mods :)

That would be pretty cool! I do remember the older locomotive mods, I lost my 0.16 folder that had the very first electric train mod, which was jank as hell but had an accumulator wagon and dynamic power connection based on the locomotive's proximity to grid coverage. That mod was awesome, I wish I still had a copy of it.

i'm sure the one you're referring to still exists - or at least something similar. I've seen ones with batteries you need to insert also. Another one electrifies the rails.

Please do check out my flavour of electrified trains: There HAS to be an overhead line connection in order for the train to recieve a charge. This needs to be connected via copper wire to a power grid. If there are no overhead cables the train fast runs out of power :)
