g (Resolved) Freezing mechanic

I enabled the "Aquilo biome on Fulgora" option without realising that this enables the freezing mechanic on Fulgora too. It's possibly my least favourite Factorio mechanic. Any chance you can add an option to en/disable the freezing mechanic independently of the biome merging?

For what it's worth, the biome looks good. The frozen machine graphics look good too (except maybe the belts which look snowed up).

Thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated.

I will make the changes.

Version 0.16.4 has been uploaded.
It adds a startup setting to disable freezing on Fulgora.

Thanks.

By the way, do bots consume extra power on Fulgora in your mod? I thought I read in the other thread that they don't, yet mine seem to need recharging very quickly. (According to the wiki, this mechanic is due to low atmospheric pressure on Aquilo, not temperature.)

If you enable moving the Aquilo biome to Fulgora, yes.
When enabled, as for planet conditions, Fulgora mostly becomes Aquilo.
It retains the magnetic field and in orbit, the solar efficiency.

Do you like the challenge then? On Fulgora the main source of power is lightning storms and it just doesn't seem to be enough (building stuff runs the power down fast). I guess there's probably enough ice to run a fission power plant.

It's an okay mechanic on Aquilo with quality bots. Power isn't too much of a problem thanks to cheap rocket fuel and being the source of fusion power. Even without those, I think it's common to ship in uranium power and water isn't a problem.

(If it were me I would disable that mechanic outright.)

To make sure I understand, you are recommending when the Aquilo biome is moved to Fulgora, do not make any changes to Fulgora?
So that only the Aquilo biome is moved and Fulgora remains unchanged?

This is down to the "pressure" surface property, presumably? I would leave that at its usual Fulgora value. I don't know what else might be affected.
