Deep mining without ore deposits — redesigned for real balance. Two powerful extractors, configurable energy costs, Balanced/Expensive profiles, intelligent planet restrictions, optional maintenance, Mining Productivity research, modded resources and performance-friendly recipes. Factorio 2.1, Space Age optional.
Providing the player with new tools or adjusting the game interface, without fundamentally changing gameplay.
Version: 0.2.0
Date: 2026-10-24
Balance:
- Balanced profile: Deep Mine 1.5 MW, Industrial Deep Mine 12 MW.
- Expensive profile: Deep Mine 3.75 MW, Industrial Deep Mine 30 MW.
- Default work time 2.0 s per regular ore; speed 0.5 / 5.0.
- Exactly 60 basic or 6 industrial machines per 15 regular ore/s (no bonuses).
- Industrial tier uses 20% less energy per ore before modules.
Modules and quality:
- Basic Deep Mine: 0 module slots, no beacon effects.
- Industrial Deep Mine: 2 module slots; speed, consumption and pollution
effects allowed; productivity effects remain opt-in via existing setting.
- No quality modules; extraction recipes cannot produce quality resources.
- Machine quality still affects crafting speed. Quality never adds module slots.
Compatibility:
- Preserved all existing machine, item, technology and recipe IDs.
- Kept planetary conditions and research-productivity rules unchanged.
- Existing saves with modules installed must be backed up and checked,
since shrinking a machine's module slots can impact installed modules.
Notes:
- Testing build; validate on a backup of an existing 0.1.0 save.
Version: 0.1.0
Date: 2026-10-24
Features:
- Initial published release of deep extraction in Factorio 2.1.
- Two profiles and planet-aware extraction with automatic physical conditions.
- Research productivity, RU/EN and configurable extraction costs.
Additional test build adjustment (unpublished 0.2.0):
- Added independent startup checkboxes for Tier II speed and efficiency modules, enabled by default.
- Updated productivity module checkbox default to enabled while retaining its identifier for old saves.
- Kept quality modules disallowed and Mining Productivity research independent.
- Other module categories from installed mods remain supported except quality.
