Frost Biters


Adds a nest of Frost Aliens and Worms! These aliens will cause frost damage, and may launch a frost cloud over your factory. Defeated aliens will drop artifacts that can be further processed into weapons and armors (optional). With Alien-biomes, nests will only spawn in cold areas.

EDIT: Checked by using same map seed and previewing new game map.
Without frost biter mod: a certain part of icy biome has ~9 nests (probably vanilla nests, I have explosive + toxic enabled but they dont spawn on ice).
With frost biter mod: >20 nests (!!!!)
This is insane. You should absolutely notify much more cleary in the mod description that enabling mod even with default 100% means the player will deal with double or more nests and most of them (in the appropriate biome) will be MUCH more difficult biters.
That way, other players will not suffer the same experience I did, thinking vanilla is replaced by elemental biters when in fact they are added ON TOP.
Now I have to disable it completely. Had I known this, I would just have set frost biter to maybe 40% frequency.


I was wondering how I can struggle so pathetically with just 100% nests and 133% size settings (also slightly more evolution but not much).

Now I compared the save game with enabled and disabled frost biter mod.
There are FAR less nests!

Question: This mod adds ADDITIONAL NESTS on top of the vanilla ones, right?
I thought vanilla ones are TRANSFORMED and EXCHANGED for frost biters (or explosive/poison, respectively).

Because the way it is, you are surrounded by an extreme number of nests and struggle especially before getting oil and robots set up. It's a very tedious and unfun experience, having to clear every square inch of nests which is quite timeconsuming and dangerous with the equipment you have before oil.

Can someone clarify if it replaces or ADDS nests? It sure seems like the latter.
Explosive and Toxic do the same?
Just exchanging regular nests would be enough of a challenge, the frost explosions alone make for some nasty surprises and constantly damaged walls. I'd say the 'elemental' biter mods make them at least double as dangerous as vanilla enemies. But then spawning their nests IN ADDITION to regular ones is a bit much.
