Yeah the force unlocking copper plates with BZ aluminum was sort of a hack from the beginning. I've changed this so now brass is initially made inefficiently from copper and zinc ores, and can be produced at the full yield from plates once smelting copper plates is unlocked. This system is a bit brittle in that it has a bunch of different hardcoded variations depending on very specific mod loadouts, so follow up if there are any more issues.
