I use RSO mod with very sparse resources and airplanes are good transport vehicles for myself. But sometimes if starting resources are low, I cant research gunship before starting iron ore are spent.

Can you add some sort of early scout plane with aviatic abilities as gunship, but without arming and grids and less armoured? Avaiable from Advanced Aerodynamics.
I try it (with gunship graphic) and its fun. Even with machine gun (from cargo ship) its unable to attack bases (before modular armour and personal defence tech), but free move and good speed is critical, when nearest resource is 1000 tiles far.
