Hi, have you considered integrating with the Enemy Race Manager - Zerg faction at https://mods.factorio.com/mod/erm_zerg ? This might be exactly the type of thing you're thinking of and would have more cool units that could spawn. Similarly, does this mod allow you to control the biters and order them around or is it entirely on its own?

This mod doesn't allow direct control or command of the biters. Once you establish a hive, the swarm will become allied with you — they won’t attack you, but they will target other biter factions. They also automatically expand their territory.

As for commanding the swarm and the mod you mentioned, I’ll definitely take a look — it sounds interesting, and I might consider adding such features in a future update. Thanks for the suggestion!

Absolutely! One of the mods that Enemy Race Manager uses is called "Player Control" which allows for a bit of ordering around units. After a period of time without commands, they'll revert back to their own behavior. Could be a good balance or as an optional setting.

In version 1.0.3, I’ve implemented a basic logic for controlling swarm movement. Right now, it's quite simple — players can select swarm units and have them gather around their position. I might expand on this feature in the future, I’m considering an RTS-style approach where a separate entity could be used to issue movement commands to any location, not just near the player.
