g Mil Sci / Grenades / Explosives

There's no coal on Gleba. Coal synthesis from Carbon is a little late in the tech tree for Military Science and horribly inefficient. This makes it hard to get explosives and mil sci.

For Nauvis start this works fine (we can ship in explosives), but for a Gleba start it's really not ideal.

Maybe Gleba should have (small) coal deposits?

Or maybe there should be some other recipes for Mil Sci (and maybe grenades & explosives)? A simple idea:

  • New recipe for explosives, using Spoilage instead of Coal
  • New recipe for grenades using explosives instead of coal (possibly with higher output than the basic coal+iron recipe since explosives are a more refined resource)

I've been back and forth on this, personally. The three main approaches I'm considering are small coal deposits out in deep water, alternate explosive recipes, or boompuff cultivation, but I haven't yet decided on one in particular; I'm thinking the alternate explosives approach, though perhaps not the particular one you've presented.
