📦 Warehousing Enhanced

Warehousing Enhanced is an independently maintained Factorio 2.1 replacement fork of the original Warehousing mod. It keeps the familiar buildings, recipes, capacities, and translations while modernizing circuit behavior and maintenance.

Store more items without covering your factory in hundreds of chests. Build large 6×6 warehouses or compact 3×3 storehouses, with basic, storage, passive-provider, active-provider, requester, and buffer versions. Hidden linked containers remain available to scenarios and editors.

✨ What Enhanced changes

Warehousing Enhanced keeps the familiar buildings and recipes from the original Warehousing while updating its Factorio 2.1 behavior:

  • Native circuit requests: requester and buffer buildings use Factorio's built-in Set requests and Read contents controls instead of a custom recurring updater.
  • Full wire choice: choose red, green, or both independently for request input and content output. Warehousing Enhanced does not lock or continually reset your choices.
  • Feedback-safe option: green request input with red content output is recommended when you want to prevent stored contents from feeding back into demand, but it is not required.
  • Less recurring script work: the old every-tick circuit polling and request-section rewriting are removed. Circuit behavior is handled by Factorio after you configure the building.
  • Safer ownership: player-edited or uncertain circuit sections are not silently cleared or overwritten.

🏭 Storage choices

  • Warehouse: a 6×6 building with 1800 inventory slots by default; the storage-logistic version has 2000.
  • Storehouse: a cheaper 3×3 building with 450 inventory slots by default; the storage-logistic version has 500.
  • Logistic variants: storage, passive provider, active provider, requester, and buffer versions work with construction and logistic robots.
  • Scenario variants: hidden linked warehouses and storehouses remain available to editors and scenario authors; they are not normal craftable buildings.
  • Circuit connections: red and green wires connect at the matching corners of craftable warehouses and storehouses.
  • Startup options: scale Alt-mode inventory icons, keep the older 0.16 capacities, or base Logistics Warehousing 2 research on Logistic System.

🔧 Other improvements

  • Corrected logistic-robot delivery positions on warehouses.
  • Removed unwanted circuit connectors inherited by hidden linked containers.
  • Added support for formula-based Logistic System research costs when research-cost matching is enabled.
  • Reused the existing translated Logistics Warehousing name for both research levels.
  • Requires Factorio 2.1.7 or newer so native request input and content output controls are always available.

🔌 Native circuit controls

For requester and buffer buildings, Factorio lets you configure Set requests and Read contents independently. Each function can use the red wire, the green wire, or both wires.

Using the same circuit network for request input and content output is allowed. Depending on your circuit design, the content signal can feed back into the requested amount. Using green for requests and red for contents is a simple feedback-safe arrangement, not a Warehousing Enhanced restriction.

New buildings use Factorio's normal native controls. Once configured, blueprint copy, settings copy, cloning, robot construction, and save/reload rely on Factorio's serialized circuit settings rather than a Warehousing Enhanced event handler.

Warehousing Enhanced is a separate replacement for the original Warehousing and cannot be enabled alongside it because both mods define the same buildings and other prototypes. Disable the original before enabling Warehousing Enhanced.

The established entity, item, recipe, technology, and startup-setting prototype names are retained so existing saves can keep their Warehousing buildings when switching mods. Always make a backup before changing mods.

Factorio keeps each mod's saved script storage separate, so Warehousing Enhanced cannot import the original mod's circuit-tracking data. Existing requester and buffer buildings, their request sections, and their native circuit controls therefore need manual review after switching. Confirm Set requests, Read contents, and the selected red/green input and output networks before relying on them.

Original Warehousing 1.1.2 can leave its last circuit-generated manual request section active. Before enabling native Set requests, disable or remove that old section only when you can identify it confidently; otherwise its stale demand can combine with native circuit demand. If ownership is uncertain, use a backed-up save and replace the building with a clean one after safely transferring its contents instead of deleting a possibly player-authored section.

Legacy blueprint records and entity ghosts are not rewritten. After placement or revival, review the requester or buffer's native circuit settings and wiring, then refresh the blueprint from a validated building if needed.

Storehouses were contributed by Hanniballo; kingarthur and dgw contributed earlier Factorio updates and integration work. The original contributors and translators remain credited in the packaged documentation.

The code and associated documentation are released under the MIT License. Warehousing Enhanced is not an official release by the original authors.

Generative AI (OpenAI Codex) assisted with code, testing, documentation, and the packaged thumbnail artwork. The maintainer remains responsible for the work and will review all code, documentation, and final release material before publication.
