Stargate
Fast travel across your factory, and across worlds, at a steep price.
Craft a Stargate, an expensive endgame structure, then simply walk into it to open the dial menu and teleport to any other Stargate you've built. Same planet, another planet, an orbital platform: if there's a gate there, you can jump to it.
The catch: the wormhole won't carry cargo. Like boarding a rocket, you must be empty-handed, with no items and no ammo passing through. Plan your trips, build gate networks, and use them for quick redeployment rather than hauling freight.
Features
- Walk-in teleporting. No hotkeys or menus to fumble; step onto a gate and the dial menu opens automatically.
- Cross-surface travel. Jump between planets and platforms, not just around one map. Off-world destinations are labelled with their surface.
- Nameable gates. Rename any gate from the dial menu so your destination list reads "Iron Outpost" instead of raw coordinates.
- Empty-handed rule. The gate refuses to fire while you carry items or ammo, and tells you so. Nothing is ever deleted; you just can't leave loaded.
- Too heavy for rockets. A crated Stargate exceeds rocket lift capacity, so you can't cheat one into orbit. Build the materials and craft one on each world.
- Lives in the Logistics crafting tab.
Crafting
The recipe is deliberately hard to make on a new planet:
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Processing unit | 200 |
| Low density structure | 100 |
| Electric engine unit | 50 |
| Steel plate | 500 |
| Copper cable | 1000 |
Unlocked from the start (no research gate).
How to use
- Craft a Stargate and place it. Build at least one more somewhere else.
- Empty your inventory and ammo into a chest.
- Walk onto a gate and the dial menu opens.
- Pick a destination and warp. You arrive next to the target gate.
Compatibility
- Factorio 2.1.
- Works with or without Space Age. The "too heavy for rockets" behaviour uses the Space Age weight system; without Space Age, gates still teleport between any surfaces you have.
