True HD Production

True HD Production is an HD texture pack for Factorio 2.0, focused on making the production side of the base game look sharper, cleaner, and more detailed while still keeping the normal Factorio style.

This is a visual-only texture pack.
There are no gameplay changes, no recipe changes, no balance changes, and no entity stat changes.

The goal is simple:

Make Factorio’s production buildings look cleaner, punchier, and more modern without changing how the game plays.

Important Download Note

This is a large HD texture pack, so the download size is bigger than a normal Factorio mod.

Because of Mod Portal upload limits, True HD Production is split into multiple parts.

Please install and enable all required parts:

  • True HD Production - Part 1
  • True HD Production - Part 2

Part 2 depends on Part 1, so make sure both are installed for the full texture pack to work correctly.

What This Mod Does

True HD Production replaces production-focused base-game textures with sharper HD versions.

The textures have been rebuilt, cleaned up, corrected, and kept at the proper in-game scale so they should not look oversized or out of place.

The aim is not to redesign Factorio.

The aim is to make the existing Factorio production style look:

  • sharper
  • cleaner
  • punchier
  • more detailed
  • better on modern monitors
  • still close to vanilla Factorio

What Was Changed

  • HD production texture replacements
  • Extra polish pass over the textures
  • Resized and corrected back to proper in-game scale
  • More colour and contrast pop
  • Cleaner RGB/detail pass
  • Clean alpha handling to help avoid fuzzy edges
  • Extra sharpening and texture cleanup
  • Lossless PNG optimisation before packaging
  • Vanilla-style look, just sharper and more detailed

Includes

True HD Production focuses on base-game production-related visuals such as:

  • assembling machines
  • mining drills
  • furnaces
  • boilers
  • steam engines
  • steam turbines
  • chemical plants
  • oil refineries
  • pumpjacks
  • labs
  • beacons
  • accumulators
  • solar panels
  • nuclear production visuals
  • selected production remnants and supporting textures

This pack is built to improve the look of production buildings while staying close to the original Factorio art direction.

Does This Change Gameplay?

No.

True HD Production does not change:

  • recipes
  • technologies
  • crafting
  • balance
  • machine speed
  • power usage
  • item stats
  • entity stats
  • progression
  • gameplay logic

It is purely a visual texture pack.

Gameplay stays exactly the same — it just looks better.

VRAM / Performance

This mod uses HD textures, so it will use more VRAM than vanilla Factorio.

Most modern gaming PCs should be fine, but lower-end systems or PCs with low VRAM may notice:

  • longer startup/loading times
  • higher VRAM usage
  • higher memory usage
  • slower texture loading on older systems

If you are already close to your VRAM limit in Factorio, this pack may push usage higher.

For the best experience, use a GPU with a decent amount of VRAM and keep Factorio’s graphics settings reasonable for your system.

Version Notes

Version 1.0.0

  • Initial True HD Production release
  • Rebuilt the pack into clean Part 1 and Part 2 releases
  • Added clean dependency setup, with Part 2 depending on Part 1
  • Added proper release files
  • Added credits, licence, changelog, and description files
  • Included thumbnail
  • Kept PNG files visually untouched from the prepared texture pack
  • Kept the pack split under Mod Portal size limits

Development Notes

This kind of texture rebuild takes time, especially when working through large production buildings, animated sprites, remnants, and supporting textures while keeping everything at the correct in-game scale.

More rebuilds, polish passes, and other texture packs may come later.

If you like the look of this pack, keep an eye out for future updates.

Please Support the Original

If you enjoy this mod, please also check out Factorio HD Age: Base Game - Production by Ingo_Igel.

That mod does a huge amount of the heavy lifting for HD Factorio texture replacement. True HD Production is built from that foundation, with my own extra cleanup, colour, contrast, sharpening, and polish pass added on top.

If you want a great HD texture pack with a lighter setup, go try Factorio HD Age first.

True HD Production is more for players who want to push Factorio’s visuals even further and do not mind using more VRAM for a sharper, punchier look.

Support

True HD Production takes a lot of time to rebuild, test, optimise, and keep updated.

The mod is completely free and will stay free.

If you enjoy it and feel like supporting future texture work, you can buy me a coffee here:

No pressure at all — only if you feel like it. I’ll keep working on the mod either way because I enjoy making Factorio look better.
