That's no rock!
Ever walked into a rock you thought was scenery? Factorio's ground is covered in decorative rocks that look just like the real ones, and the small real ones vanish among them. This mod puts a ring round everything that's actually there, and leaves the scenery alone. Great if you need help with visibility, too!
What gets a ring
- Rocks you can mine or bump into, on every planet: Nauvis's rocks, Vulcanus's volcanic rocks and chimneys, Fulgora's ruins and fulgurite, Gleba's stromatolites, Aquilo's icebergs, demolisher corpses and stomper shells. Each ring is fitted to the rock's picture and passes behind it, so it reads as an outline. Decorative rocks get none.
- Enemy worms and nests, in red. No more forest surprises.
- Land mines, in orange.
Every ring is drawn above trees, so something under a canopy still shows.
Items on the ground
The game won't draw anything extra on dropped items, so instead they show as dots on the map and minimap. Handy for finding what spilled when your inventory was full.
Settings
All in the startup settings: turn each kind on or off, pick its colour (the alpha value sets how strong the ring is), and choose whether rings glow at night.
Good to know
- No script at all. Only the sprites change, so it costs nothing while you play.
- Works with other mods' rocks, worms, nests and mines. Their rocks get a simpler ring sized from their footprint, which trees can hide.
- In multiplayer against other players, they can see the rings on your land mines.
- Works with or without Space Age.
- Safe to add to or remove from a save.
