Seems to me this mod only changes vanilla distances and dosen't touch modded planets.

This obviously leads to a very abstract space map where modded planets act as shortcuts between planets.

Definitely a half and half right now. For the most part, almost all planets use planet lib by thesixthroc and use that library's distance for features like moons and more. Mods that do not use Planets Lib do work with the mod. I am a little bit busy right now but I'll look into it soon and come up with a patch.

Edit: Fixed the mod, should be up and running with all modded planets that use Planet lib too. Please report any things you see is broken or not updated
