Skip the grind: One-time
The simple version of Skip the grind for players who want a head start without extra options.
Configure your loadout from an in-game window, get items automatically when you spawn, and make one manual apply if you want to tweak things — then the configurator locks for the rest of that save. No access-mode settings, no timers, no fuss.
Features
Same core loadout tools as the full mod:
- Presets (Easy, Minimal, Vanilla, Blank) or a custom item list
- Optional power armor with configurable equipment
- Extra reach (0–200 tiles)
- Early tech unlock by category (with confirmation)
- Toolbar shortcut + Ctrl+Shift+I
/skip-the-grind-onceand/skip-the-grind-once-configcommands
How one-time use works
- Start a new game — your loadout is applied when your character spawns.
- Open the configurator (Ctrl+Shift+I) to adjust items, armor, reach, or tech.
- Click Apply to my character now when ready.
- The configurator locks for the rest of that save. You cannot reopen it or re-apply via the GUI.
This behaviour is fixed — it cannot be changed in mod settings.
Mod settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Default loadout for new games | Easy / Minimal / Vanilla / Blank |
| Write debug log | Optional log at script-output/skip-the-grind-once/debug.log |
Notes
- Enable either this mod or the full Skip the grind — not both.
- Compatible with Factorio 2.1. Requires base only.
Troubleshooting
Enable Write debug log in Mod settings, reproduce the issue, then check:
Factorio/script-output/skip-the-grind-once/debug.log
Attach that file when reporting a bug.
2.18.12 - Fixed issue vacuuming up all items around you, Global reach and robot speed values should remain when save loaded back up.
