g Scrappy Industry required?

Your other mod, scrappy industry, is noted as a requirement for this mod, is that really the case? Is it necessary for this to run?

Currently yes, since Scrappy Industry has the library code that modifies the assets, but I'm thinking of making a separate framework mod so that it's an expand alone that you can use SC without SI changes.

I see, that would be very cool, because I think the chemical byproducts seem like fun, but I'm not ready for random scrap in my assemblers yet

Just as a first impression, I'm actually playing with Space Exploration and Krastorio 2 and a bunch of other mods. I had to make sure your mod loaded last, but it does modify all recipes nicely. Of course not sure to what degree it results in your desired balance, but all relevant recipes are modified and now have ingredients or outcomes with the newly added fluids and items.
