Could you maybe adjust the ingredients, instead of being the same as the radar... using a radar + some steel or low density structure as ingredients? There's precedence for radar as ingredient in SA (Spidertron, Artillery shell), and steel/LDS would fit with portable solar panels & personal batteries. Adds more flavor and doesn't make it feel as cheaty and bland as just crafting a radar and nothing else.

It would also be cool to have higher qualites draw more power (30kW, 60kW, 90kW, 120kW, 180kW, scaling same as accumulator) but also have longer range.

Aaand it would be cool to have the radar range displayed in the factoriopedia info text, like the Roboport with its "Radar coverage distance: 3" entry.
