I was able to make this work last night, edited the SE .json removing the !Quality (SE-compatible fork). Originally, I changed this to a ? to make it optional, however I encountered a circular load error with some other mods on my list. To remedy this, I went into the .json for this mod and removed the dependency for SE all together while simultaneously removing this mod from SE's list. I am not experienced with Factorio mods, so there may be a slightly cleaner way to do this. The three mods showing up for the circular load error were this mod, SE, and Factorissimo. I may have removed every dependency for this mod as well, I spent too much time trying to make it work so may have gone nuclear in my final desperate attempt.
I tested in creative mode for a few minutes, quality appeared to be working. I didn't check every single item in the game because quality isn't even supposed to work for SE, I just want to have the option of quality for my upcoming run.
Quick note if you plan to do this, I had some file name errors while zipping the modified folder for this mod back up. The solution to this was to drag the contents of "quality main" up a level. For the zip files to work, there must be 1 layer of folder nesting (when you open the zip, you should only have to click one additional folder before you see all the goodies). I did not have this error with SE's folder because the nested folder within the SE zip shares the exact same name, I was simply able to compress the nested folder for the desired result.
This was done with the most up to date version of each mod from the in-game portal as of August 11th 2026, I did not do this with 2.1 Factorio
