This mod solves a pain in the ass - what to do with the rare holmium ore and tons of high quality intermediate products that I can't send into mainstream production and don't want to destroy unnecessarily. Recycling isn't a solution either, because I don't need some of the higher quality raw materials, so the only thing to do with them is to build a second (and third, then fourth and fifth) factory or recycle them to zero.
I tried unsuccessfully to create a mod based on CraftingMachine. This chest solution is quick and elegant.
As you write - even in a real factory, if there is no outlet for better quality, it just overwrites the canban and exports the product as common.
