b Can't get Stainless Steel (Softlock)

(updated 4 years ago)

There seems to be a softlock in getting Stainless Steel.

One of the ingredients for Stainless Steel is Aramid.
Aramid requires access to Molybdenum Plate.
Molybdenum Plate requires building an Agitator as part of the process from the raw ore.
The Agitator requires Electric Engines to build.
Electric Engines require Advanced Small Parts to build
Advanced Small Parts require Stainless Steel to build.

Is there a path I am missing to break this softlock?

mods?

The two main mod packs are Pyanodons and all of Bob's Mods except for Bob's Electronics (The game crashes because of conflicting Solder recipes.)

The only other enabled mods that adjust recipes are Loader Redux, Fluid Must Flow, and Realistic Electric Trains

Ok. Are you on .17 or .18 and are you using pycoaltbaa?

If possible send me a copy of your save so I can sink mods and settings to see which ones are modifying things to fix it

I don't have pycoaltbaa, and I am on 0.17. I also realized I skipped a step pointing out the exact component giving me trouble. I updated the original post.

Out of curiosity, I did try to upgrade to 0.18 and update all active mods to match compatibility. The result is the same: Advanced Small Parts still needs Stainless Steel, and the loop I am trapped in remains unchanged.

I don't have a platform to share the game save, but I can share the mod list I am currently using:

Factorio Version 0.18.16

base 0.18.16
helmod 0.10.11 (<-- used to help trace the loop)
pycoalprocessing 1.6.5
pycoalprocessinggraphics 1.0.4
pyfusionenergy 1.6.0
pyfusionenergygraphics 1.0.1
pyindustry 1.4.4
pypetroleumhandling 1.6.9
pypetroliumhandlinggraphics 1.0.1
pyrawores 2.0.2
pyraoresgraphics 1.0.2
stdlib 1.4.2

Edit: I loaded a new save turning off as many mods as possible, and this is the list I came up with which gives me the loop.

Version 1.6.1 fixed the issue with the Agitator recipe. Thanks.
