If the first generator is hooked up with one of the two rear input only ports, the plasma is not passed through the side ports.
In order to get plasma to pass through the side the generator needs to be receiving plasma from the side. Is this intended behavior? Can this be fixed?

Anyway: No, the behavior you have described is not intended. Honestly I'm also surprised, because all I did was to change the connectors to the "fluid" box of the entity. I will look into this ...
I was able to reproduce the problem. I'm still not sure why it behaves like that, but I created a fix. It seems to work just fine, when all connectors allow input+output.
