If you can't wait for an update you can edit the mod manually to make it working again by editing 2 files. Go into %AppData%/Factorio/Mods or whereever your mods folder is located and open ore-eraser_1.4.1.zip.

1: Open info.json and edit line 4 "factorio_version": "0.16" to "factorio_version": "0.17".
2: Open prototypes/ore-eraser.lua and remove line 7 flags = {"goes-to-quickbar"},

I tried removing some patches, saving and reloading the map and everything seemed to be working fine. Only issue I could find is that the item was not searchable in the crafting menu. Just back up your saves before testing it out.

It is updated for 0.17 now. The recipe has been removed and the item added to the blueprint library.
