A fork of warped_jack's Only Nauvis mod with focus on building unique space platforms.
A cataclysm has struck the system, leaving only Nauvis intact. Instead of traveling to new planets to exploit their resources, fly into their shattered remains to harvest chunks and bring them back to Nauvis. Each planet's asteroid field has a new challenge.

Features:

  • Your main factory will still be built on Nauvis, but space platforms are still a mandatory central mechanic.

  • Raw materials from all 4 alien planets are instead gathered from asteroids. Fly to them with a "fly condition" like with shattered planet. Each has a unique challenge.

  • Exotic asteroid types tend to scatter their chunks around chaotically, often away from collectors. Your platform will need to maintain some speed
through the field to collect them efficiently.

  • As in vanilla, all chunks must be crushed in space.

Gleba Remnants

  • Organic asteroids start to spoil once they're broken into chunks by your turrets. Chunks yield 5 fruits with the same spoilage level as the chunk they were made from. Requires a fast ship that can retrieve chunks and return to Nauvis quickly.

  • Sorry! The seeds can't be planted on Nauvis. They're junk, so you'll have to get rid of them by burning or (in space) throwing them overboard.

  • Chunks rarely yield pentapod eggs. Drop them to the surface quickly, or be ready to throw them overboard.

Vulcanus Remnants

  • Asteroids here are very dense and durable, so your platform needs to be armed to the teeth with lots of physical damage.

  • Tungsten asteroid chunks are tough and take a lot of crushers to grind them up. Lots of stone and coal byproduct.

Fulgora Remnants

  • Scrap asteroids are resistant to all damage except lasers and lightning; requires many solar panels or a reactor to power them.

  • Each chunk only yields 10 scrap. Requires a LOT of grabbers. Chunks only take 50% the time to crush as other asteroids.

  • It might be fairly efficient to recycle the scrap on the platform and toss everything but holmium into space!

Aquilo Remnants (PLANNED, UNFINISHED- contains warped_jack's content as a placeholder)

  • Chunks yield fluids that must be dropped to Nauvis using barrels. Is it better to craft barrels from asteroids or ship them up with rockets?

  • Melting of chunks requires delicate temp/pressure control, so this can only be done slowly and in a foundry (in space!)

  • The complex chemistry of manufacturing lithium plates can't be controlled in the Nauvis atmosphere. It must also be done on a space platform instead.

TODO:After unlocking rocket turrets, unlock new routes between gleba/vulcanus/fulgora which have bigger asteroids (for more chunks).
- These routes have some asteroids from the 2 planets they're between.
TODO: Challenge mode: non-Nauvis science packs can ONLY be crafted in space.
TODO: route to space edge has huge versions of all 4 asteroid types for even MORE chunks.
- Needs even more complicated turret setup to account for the new types
- Huge scrap asteroids require lightning turrets etc

All of the extraplanetary science packs can be crafted in space. Can you build an asteroid collector megaship to craft all of them at once?

Huge thanks to warped_jack, there's no way I'd have been able to make this if I couldn't work off the framework he built. I'm not much of a programmer, but he did most of the heavy lifting.
This mod is heavily a work in progress, with many things unfinished. Expect balance and recipes to change over the next few versions. That said, it's playable through Fulgora/Vulcanus/Gleba science, and I'm pretty proud of how it's turning out!
