Offshore dump

Get rid of excess fluids by dumping them into the ocean. Get rid of items by dilluting them in water, creating waste water. Offshore dump can be placed into any ocean or on a space platform.

i Switchable recipe when different fluid remains

Hi there! I was trying to set up a generic dump site (train station), which works fine for items since they can be grinded down an then turned to waste fluid, but when I tried to dump different fluids in the offshore dumps that didn't work, since a little of waste fluid remains in them, so they don't accept another fluid unless you empty them. I found no way to do this, you cannot set the recipe via circuit or something like that, so you can only deconstruct and reconstruct them it seems... or set up dedicated dumps for each fluid, which doesn't seem great...

What do you think, can you implement the recipe to be changable, or even better, that the dump somehow accepts other fluids even if previous, different fluids remain in the dump...?

Thanks for the mod!

That's a good question! But I am afraid that the solution to that problem would not be simple, because the way it works is that offshore dump is technically a furnace and the recipe is set from the liquid that is in the building, just like furnaces. And just like with smelting steel, if there is some iron left in the input of a furnace, you cannot put anything else in.

So I think that the best solution would be to have a filtering pump before each offshore dump, each set for different fluid. I understand that it is not the most elegant solution, but I am not able to make it work differently.

yeah I understand that, thanks for your quick response! Do you think it would be worth considering basing the dump on another entity, where you can set the recipe via e.g. combinator from the "outside"? The downside would at least be that you would have to initially select a recipe in every case then (even people who don't use combinators), the beauty now is that it's automatically done...

Or maybe an additional dump entity, where you can select the recipe, because it's based on another machine? Don't know if that's possible at all and if the effort would be worth it.

But I can live with the solution to set a few dumps for each fluid, it's not very elegant, but it doesn't matter that much if I place 10 or 100 dumps. :-)
