Nexus Kingdoms
Choose a game mode, join a Kingdom and fight for survival or victory across dynamically generated arenas.
Nexus Kingdoms is a standalone multiplayer framework for Factorio 2.0 and Space Age. It combines cooperative Survival, competitive Team battles and Free-for-All warfare with destructible Kingdom Cores, territory zones, diplomacy, enemy attack waves, player ranks and persistent statistics.
No separate OARC installation or additional Nexus mods are required.
Game Modes
Nexus Kingdoms includes three separate game modes with their own rules, arena layouts, attack schedules and victory conditions.
Survival
All players join one shared Emerald Kingdom named Survival.
- Supports any number of players
- Can be started by a single player
- New players may join while the round is already active
- The Survival Core is positioned in the south
- Enemy spawners are distributed across the northern side of the arena
- Worm Valley separates the Kingdom from the enemy hives
- Attack waves originate from different surviving spawners
- Victory requires destroying every arena spawner and worm while keeping the Survival Core alive
During the first two minutes, players vote for the round difficulty:
- Easy
- Medium
- Hard
- Extreme
- Nightmare
Higher difficulties introduce stronger enemies much sooner.
Team
Kingdoms are automatically divided between two opposing teams.
- Requires at least four Kingdoms for balanced teams
- Supports battles such as 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 Kingdoms
- Kingdoms on the same team are allied
- The last surviving team wins
- Team wins, losses and competitive rating are tracked per player
Free-for-All
Every Kingdom fights independently.
- Each Kingdom protects its own Kingdom Core
- Rival Kingdom Cores can be destroyed
- The last surviving Kingdom wins
- FFA wins, losses and competitive rating are tracked per player
Players can vote to change the selected game mode from the lobby. A change approved during an active round becomes effective after everyone returns to the lobby.
Dynamic Round Arenas
Every match takes place on a newly generated arena.
- Native terrain from Nauvis, Vulcanus, Gleba, Fulgora or Aquilo
- Arena size adjusts to the number of participating Kingdoms
- Fresh Kingdom positions and resources each round
- Two fixed 600% crude-oil wells beside every Kingdom Core
- Temporary arena surfaces are removed after each round
- Players automatically return to the central lobby before the next match
Each completed or stopped round produces a fresh arena without requiring a complete server-world reset.
Kingdoms and Territory
During Team and FFA rounds, players create or join Kingdoms in the lobby.
Each Kingdom receives:
- Its own force, name and color
- A destructible Kingdom Core
- A private starting position within the arena
- Shared progression between Kingdom members
- Starting resources and equipment
- Visible colored territory
- Support for connected bases and distant outposts
Territory grows as the Kingdom expands.
- Kingdom Cores establish the initial territory
- Radars extend connected territory
- Roboports expand construction territory
- Detached roboports can establish outposts
- Rival territory cannot be overwritten
- Separate territory components receive their own Kingdom labels
- Territory updates when important structures are removed or destroyed
Territory rendering can be toggled from the interface.
Diplomacy and Warfare
Team and FFA rounds include the Nexus diplomacy and warfare systems.
- Manage relationships with other Kingdoms
- Form alliances where the selected game mode permits them
- Declare war on rival Kingdoms
- Trade through dedicated diplomacy systems
- Receive cross-Kingdom attack notifications
- Destroy Kingdom Cores to eliminate opponents
- Capture territory after enemy structures are removed
Supported dedicated servers can also forward attack alerts to Discord.
Enemy Waves and Sudden Death
Team and FFA rounds become increasingly dangerous over time.
- Small biters and spitters begin attacking after 60 minutes
- Medium biters and spitters begin after 120 minutes
- Big biters and spitters begin after 180 minutes
- A 30-minute Sudden Death countdown begins after 210 minutes
- Behemoth biters and spitters begin after 240 minutes
- Behemoth waves continue until the final Kingdom or team remains
Survival uses a separate enemy progression based on the difficulty selected by the players.
Wave creation, arena generation and cleanup are processed in controlled batches to reduce UPS impact during large matches.
Player Ranks and Victory
The Victory interface tracks personal performance across all three game modes.
Survival Records
- Longest Survival time
- Difficulty used
- Best Survival rank
- Completed difficulties
Survival ranks use biter and worm icons, ranging from Small Biter to Behemoth Worm.
Survival performance does not affect competitive Team or FFA rating.
Team and FFA Records
- Wins
- Losses
- Competitive rating
- Competitive rank
Winning a Team or FFA round increases rating. Losing reduces rating, with a larger reduction for highly rated players.
Rank icons are displayed beside player names in Nexus Chat. During a match, the icon for the active game mode is shown. In the lobby, both Survival and competitive rank icons are displayed.
Weekly Victories
Completed round winners are recorded in the weekly Victory list.
- Newest victories appear first
- Winning players and round information are shown
- The weekly winners list resets after seven days of active game time
- Persistent personal ranks, wins, losses and Survival records are not reset weekly
