The calibration device improves the quality of modules. The process takes time, energy, and resources, like in conventional gameplay with quality. However, it is simpler than building a recycling loop.

The standard quality mod is optional. You can play without it to get 2 tiers of quality modules without other quality-based gameplay.

Calibration is researched by a new technology after electromagnetic science (in Space Age) or after Quality 2 (in Vanilla).
