Modular Balancer

by alcojs

A modular N:M belt balancer: place 1x1 blocks in any connected shape and attach belts. Every belt feeding the group is an input, every belt it feeds is an output, and the outputs share exactly equally.

Your mod is incredible! I really like the art style—it matches the belts perfectly, which is something often missing in other mods of this type. It also runs very smoothly; in my tests, I used over 1,300 balancers with a random number of inputs and outputs, and it held up great. I was also impressed that inserters can interact directly with the balancers (both for inserting and removing items), which is fantastic.

I realize this might be outside the mod's scope, as it already perfectly delivers on what it promises (and then some).

Would adding an output filter be too much of a departure from the mod's intended purpose?

Regardless, I absolutely love the mod—it’s definitely going to be a permanent part of my setup.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Thank you so much, this made my day! I'm really glad the look fits in with the belts. That was the part I spent the most time on. And 1,300 balancers running smoothly is a great stress test — thanks for trying it!

An output filter is an interesting idea. The tricky part is that the balancer's core promise is that every output gets an exact equal share. Adding filters could interfere with that, so I'd need to figure out how filtering and balancing should work together.

I'll keep the idea in mind and think about whether it could fit while preserving the balancer's core behavior.

If you run into any bugs or find a setup that doesn't balance the way you expect, please let me know here.

Thanks again for the kind words!
