Meteorites - Proof of Concept

Requires Space Age DLC

A proof of concept mod that lets you call down meteor strikes from orbit using asteroid chunks collected on your space platforms. Tip: Works well against demolishers on Vulcanus

Current Features

Meteorite Targeting Remote

This appears as a shortcut button on the toolbar. Yes the icon is incorrect, I will fix it in a future update.

Use the targeting remote to call down asteroid chunks from your orbiting space platforms as devastating meteor strikes. Simply select a target area and watch the destruction unfold.

Requirements:
- Research the "Meteorite Targeting" technology
- Have a space platform in orbit around your current planet
- Platform must contain asteroid chunks (metallic, carbonic, or oxide)

Meteor Types

  • Metallic - Yields iron ore, copper ore, and uranium ore
  • Carbonic - Yields coal, stone, and wood
  • Oxide - Yields iron ore, stone, and uranium ore

Important: These item distributions are just for testing, these items are not final.

Meteor Sizes

Four size classes with scaling impact damage and resource yields:
- Small, Medium, Big, and Huge

Important: The sizes of meteors are currently random during this proof of concept stage.

Mineable Meteorites

After impact, meteorites can be mined for resources. Larger meteors yield significantly more materials.

Console Commands

For testing purposes:
- /spawn-meteor [type] [size] - Spawn a meteor nearby
- /spawn-meteor-here [type] [size] - Spawn at your position
- /spawn-meteor-cluster <count> <spread> [type] [size] - Spawn multiple meteors

Planned Features

  • Automatic random meteor events
  • Meteor Defense Turrets
  • Planetary Defense Shield
  • A meteor launcher/dropper for space platforms (if I'm brave enough)

Feedback

This is an early proof of concept. Feedback and suggestions are welcome!
