The hide chunk functionality isn't actually a part of the mod. The fact that it was listed is a holdover from the original mod author, who I am guessing intended to build that functionality but never did.
That said, it doesn't look crazy complicated to do - I'll see if it's possible to add when I have a little bit of time.
