Just posting here to say I reverted this version to the previous one that doesn't freeze pipes on Aquilo

Hmm. Perhaps I should add it as a setting so that freezing can be turned off. Do you think that would be useful to a lot of players?

Freezing pipes is kind of the whole idea of Aquilo. I personally don't think you should add a setting for that. If people want to intentionally cheese in-game mechanics, there are other mods for that. Your pipe mod should not be responsible for this. Just my 2 cents.
