Hey, I know, it's not very comfortable to setup the list in the settings, but that's the current approach, which was the easiest to implement for my current needs.
I was thinking, how the setup a list, to select items from, but it's a bit tough for me to implement, since I never developed GUIs in a factorio mod. I will try to do it and learn somewhere in the future, but it might take a while.
In the meantime you can also use the mod handy hands, which is able to do something similar by setting up the logistic requests, which act as crafting order. I saw some streamer use it, but never used it myself, so I'm not sure, how to do setup it exactly...
