g Some things are strictly worse

I suspected this before, but I noticed that in the 'new style' (10 qualities), the best quality of the big mining drill has a resource drain of 17%, whereas in vanilla Factorio legendary has a drain of 8%. Is this intended?

The reason I put the thread down as 'some things' is because I -think- I've seen something similar for other objects, but can't remember them at the minute - I suspect it affects the things that were hand-adjusted in vanilla?

I think so, I had to adjust the scaling to make it make some sense. On the other hand, even though it's a few percent worse than vanilla, the rest of the stats are better. If you upgrade the productivity module with Godly quality and put it anywhere, you get more than double the output.

Personally, I also play with the ability to upgrade beacons and use all modules anywhere, so I didn't feel this few percent problem :)

kinda necroing this but yea i just noticed this too

I poked around the code and managed to understand how it works (at least that part), adjusted the values so the last quality is just a tad better than vanilla, since honestly legendary vanilla big miner is just too good

you need to change the "mining_drill_resource_drain_multiplier" for each of the base qualities and new ones, what i did is reduce from .85 (mod's uncommon value) by .085 for each step and you end up with a godly of 4% drain

funny think i noticed but got lazy to check is 40Q means a drain of 0.000...1 (or something like that) making patches infinite (if there is not some kind of backup calculation since this would divide by 0 according to the formula i found
